Unabridged Audiobook
Eye opening narrative. The author has interwoven the history of North Korea along with his own experiences. Engaging narration.
The pace and real life drama of this story was totally unexpected. Terrific read.
One of the most wrenching, heart-thumping books I've read in a long time. This true story of a North Korean government official, spy, fand poet, Jang Jin Sung's attempt to escape to South Korea is truly riveting, punctuated by many moments of great joy AND great sorrow. A magnificent education on the inner-workings of a land we can only imagine in nightmares; a place with a "government" so corrupt and self-serving, ruled by one rather inconsequential degenerate man with no conscience, who has managed to control most of the minds and actions of millions of it's citizens. Best book I've read in the last year.
