*** PRE-ORDER THE ONLY SUSPECT NOW, THE NEW CAUTIONARY TALE OF OBSESSION, LOVE, JEALOUSY AND DECEPTION FROM THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF OUR HOUSE AND THE OTHER PASSENGER  ***

It all happens so quickly. One day you're living the dream, commuting to work by riverbus with your charismatic neighbour Kit in the seat beside you. The next, Kit hasn't turned up for the boat and his wife Melia has reported him missing.

When you get off at your stop, the police are waiting. Another passenger saw you and Kit arguing on the boat home the night before and the police say that you had a reason to want him dead. You protest. You and Kit are friends - ask Melia, she'll vouch for you. And who exactly is this other passenger pointing the finger? What do they know about your lives?

No, whatever danger followed you home last night, you are innocent, totally innocent.

Aren't you?

Narrow and deep story line. Great twists but narrow nature of plot can get boring.

This is my first Louise Candlish novel and it definitely won't be my last. I found the first half absorbing but thought i had an idea how the book would end. Instead in the second half the twists just kept on coming and i was gripped to the end. I did not really find any of the main characters very likeable, but i did want to know what happened to them. I don't live in London and the novel was really an eye opener for me and how people are living hand to mouth but on the surface seem to be living well. I don't want to give the plot away but the main focus driving the characters seemed to be money, or the lack of it. That said, Jamie the main narrator of the story, was led by lust but with a nice twist in the story so it did it did not end up as a cliché of a middle aged man and younger woman. The actor reading the audiobook was excellent.
