Unabridged Audiobook
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’m a big fan of the concepts presented although I am new to Adlerian theory and Psychology. I will delve deeper into the concepts presented in this wonderful book!
it's very difficult to understand how simple some things are. I loved it.
great book. really enjoyed it.
I’m embarrassed that I bought this.rnIt’s maddening, stupidrnAnd could be very very dangerousrnBy denying trauma effects a human.rnDO NOT BUY THIS
Congruent, relatable, inspiring
Worth relistening to.
One of the best books I have ever read
This is such a hard listen. The trauma part and the part where he denies that you wanting recognition from you parents is not real life. Also, you parents are not only 'some people' those were the people that you looked to for protection. he's trying to take emotions out of psychology which is absolutely comical
In my top books I’ve ever read, will challenge you and has things I even disagree with but that’s what makes it a great read
Terrible. I like philology books but this was just annoying. The way it was played was so cringe. I literally listened for 10 minutes and I was over it. Also not sure I feed into the whole past doesn't affect your future or present. I do believe that you have control and choices over the way you present yourself to the world and over your outlook in life, but this was some woo woo crap.
First of all if you didn't enjoy reading Socrates in your Philosophy 101 class, you will hate this book. It is written as a dialogue between a philosopher and a young man who questions him. I was horrified when the philosopher clearly admits he is no psychologist, but then uses founders of the field to deny things like the impact of trauma. The ideas presented here detrimental to those trying to heal from trauma. If I could give this book a zero, I would.
Wonderful read
I enjoyed the dialogue format of the book, it was very easy to grasp it
The last 2 hours weren’t particularly exciting but the first 6 hours really had some great content! I took notes and as a recovering people pleaser, it was very applicable to some of the things that I want to adjust.
The Courage to be Disliked is a life changing experience. As with all self improvement concepts, once you embark on the journey, the universe tests you. I can say from experience that these truths hold firm when you apply them to your own life. If you enjoy philosophy and unlocking human behavior, you will love this book!
