Words can't truly express how much this book touched me! Beautiful! But without the narrator I wonder if it would have had the same impact on me.... the voice of Theo was mesmerizing!

This is one of the best books I have listened to in a long time both story and narrator. Well Done!

Please bring this book into your life! It is now part of mine and has already begun to make me a better human. I’m looking and listening as if for the first time. Every individual has the potential to touch the life of another, we just have to choose to open up and let love lead the way. It’s never to late, as Theo teaches us, to allow ourselves to SEE one another and LISTEN to each other without all the judgement. Absolutely loved this book! It’s a needed reminder to slow down, meet people where they are, and that all benefit when we stop judging and start supporting one another. So well written and the narrator was perfect!

An emotional roller coaster, but the kind you want to ride. I could not have predicted the plot twists and turns even if I wanted to. This book deals with a lot of hard truths of life. I can see this being a highly beneficial book for high school English classes to read and study.

This book grabbed me and held my attention from the first to the last sentence. I had it on my wish list for months. For some reason, I kept passing it by and last week I decided to go ahead and listen to it. It was the best book that I have read or listened to in years.

The narrator has the most soothing southern voice. You can imagine the beautiful surroundings of Golden. A beautiful story of love in the eyes of an old man who is living his last days making people smile. Listen to this when you need a break from the struggle of life. Reminding you that Love above all...is what matters.

There are books and then there are stories, heartwarming and heartbreaking. This book was recommended by my daughter. I was in need of something different from the genre I had been reading or should I say listening to while I travel. In today’s world of 2026 I find more than ever I need hope. I need compassion filled with wisdom. Theo of Golden was the very gift I needed. While this is a book about choice it is also about forgiveness, acceptance, respect and clarity. It is about friendship without strings attached. It is about wonder and joy from the simple and complex. This will be a book for me to keep and to continue to get to know each character as I listen to it again. I highly recommend this book whether you read or listen to it.

What a beautiful book in a time when there is so much strife and wrong in the world. Alex brings a character- Theo - that has spent his life, although famous, he felt wrong and strife. He came to Golden to become a new person- he shed his old skin and became a compassionate, beautiful human being. He exemplifies a Christian way of life. Although not a religious book, I felt Alex was conveying something to the reader. You didn’t have to read into any of that but you could. I cried tears of joy and sadness. Best book in a long time.

What a delightful and touching story, written so beautifully and so well. I felt transported to the idyllic Golden promenade and thoroughly drawn to the characters.

The book reminds us to have a purpose in life. That life is short and how we give back to others is most purposeful and meaningful. I have to say the end of the book beautifully tied the whole story together and made everything that was listened to up to the last chapter of all that much more meaning

I really enjoyed the book. It touched my heart. If you need a feel good book, this is the perfect book. The narrator’s dialect/ accent for Theo made the character believable. For the other characters, they all sounded the same- not much variation. So, I had to rewind a few times to make sure I knew which character was talking.

I usually listen to books around 1.75 speed and this narrator with his accent was a little hard to understand. I also didn’t love the book. I went in with high expectations and the writing was severely lacking. All characters were stereotypes and the extra long details describing mundane things was unnecessary. This book could have been 200 pages or 8 hours shorter.

One of the best all time reads, and listens, I have ever experienced. The book is fascinating, with such well-developed and interesting characters and plot line. Hard to stop listening. The story makes one feel like their lives should emulate Theo’s.

I thought the book was a snooze fest. The narrator’s tone/ voice/ pace didn’t help either . I was really looking forward to this book maybe it would have been better if I just read it .

Theo of Golden is one of those books that sneaks up on you. It didn’t completely hook me in the first couple of chapters, but once it did, I was all in—and it was absolutely worth it. I listened to the audiobook, and I’ll be honest—the narrator took some getting used to. At first, I couldn’t get into it whatsoever. But once I adjusted, it ended up fitting the story in a way that really worked. The story really finds its rhythm as you go, and from that point on, I couldn’t put it down. Theo is such a layered, compelling character, and the way everything builds makes the payoff hit even harder. The world-building and emotion pull you in deeper the longer you stay with it. What really stuck with me, though, is how this book quietly pushes you to reflect on yourself—it makes you want to be a better human in the best, most genuine way. By the end, I was so glad I stuck with it. Definitely a rewarding read and one I’d recommend if you’re willing to give it a few chapters (and a little time to adjust to the narration) to get going. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The world could use a big dose of Theo and more from Allen Levi. David Morse did an impeccable job of helping each character find their voice. Bravo!

This book is unlike my usual plot driven reads. The characters were real and you felt compassion for them. The narrations matched the sentiment of the writing perfectly. Highly recommend!

This was a very feel good, uplifting book however it seemed to drag on and on. To be honest I had a very difficult time getting through it. However, I’m so glad I did because the end tied things together and I learned so much from Theo and his life well lived. In my opinion the narrator wasn’t quite right for the part.
