Summary
A fast-paced, incendiary romantic suspense novel from the bestselling author of Mariposa, about an ambitious artist on the run who becomes stranded in a remote Alaska cabin with a mysterious, tortured stranger as a deadly snowstorm, buried secrets, and irresistible attraction threaten everything.

I love art. I love the stories you can tell with imagery and color. I can lose myself in a world I create, evoking emotions that help others connect and be seen.

I’m full of ambition, stardust, and hope. These things drive me. Until one day, my entire life feels like it’s crashing, and someone is after me.

Determined to keep going, I find myself in Sleepy Coldwater, a small town in Alaska, seeking healing and adventure. What I didn’t expect was to be blindsided by a snowstorm in the mountains, leaving me desperately in need of a life-saving sanctuary.

Gavin Ariksen finds me.

Handsome. Tall. Mysterious.

With glowing blue eyes that hold a tortured past. There’s an intoxicating connection between us, dripping with tension.

The thing is, we’re both souls with warm, broken hearts.

As time passes, the snow keeps rolling in, and truths unfold. Suddenly, this may be a storm I cannot survive.

I'm sorry, but this was so bad. It felt like there might have been a cohesive story at one point, but then a TON of extra, totally random or too convenient things were added throughout the story. Lots of weird reactions to things, especially for a woman who just met this man. The author didn't really feel like she had a good sense of who she was writing. Cora (female MC) had no personality outside of being an artist and a supposedly dedicated wife. After ending the book, I could tell you nothing else about her entire personality. She was extremely whiny and scared, but then would randomly get the confidence to pop off- which always pulled me out of the book because it never made sense and always felt like it was happening at the wrong time. Early on in the book I thought that I didn't like the female narrator, but it's not. Gavin (male MC) has "always says the right thing" syndrome, which gets worse and worse as you get closer to the end. There are a few moments where, SURPRISE, he's got this new skill that we had no inclination he would have and isn't in his character. Veteran, surgeon, and hacker all in one at the ripe old age of mid-to-late-30's? Cool, I don't believe it. There were a few instances of the book that clearly weren't edited (which is unfortunate because I'm sure the Author paid for someone to do that). If this were a free book, I wouldn't be upset, but I was SO looking forward to this book that I pre-ordered it.
