Unabridged Audiobook
Excellent!
It suffers the common "word-for-word" attribute and description readings instead of minimizing repetition where it doesn't add new information nor remind you of key details likely forgotten over time. This is a common failing of how most LitRPG books are adapted from print to audio. In print you naturally skim past the redundancy. So, my rating is relative to only LitRPG audiobooks. Good storyline that doesn't rush the main character to "god level" like many do. I ended up going through the entire series in a fraction of the time I usually would.
Like listening to to someone with no sense of humor read a list of ingredients from the back of a box of kids cereal. No set up, boring characters, bo real story to speak of. If I could give zero stars I would. Deleting after barely managing to withstand the first hour.
Loved it
This was hands down the best book I’ve ever listened to or read, and honestly one of the most enjoyable things I’ve had the pleasure of learning from. Not a single chapter lacked substance — every part had something meaningful to say and always left me excited for what was coming next. I’ve been travelling through Vietnam from north to south and listened to it for the entire duration of my trip. At times I almost felt a personal connection to the story, like I was on the adventure myself. The landscapes felt very similar to what I was experiencing for the first time, just as Jason was — although I didn’t meet quite as many crazy characters along the way. In my downtime this book kept me going, and during the moments when I was out exploring, it almost reflected how I was feeling. The narrator Heath Miller was something of a marvel in himself, changing voices for each character so naturally that he didn’t even need to say who was speaking. Honestly, I don’t know what else to say other than what an amazing book. It definitely changed my perspective on a lot of things and even helped me think about my own travels in a different way.
Incredibly detailed world building and magical system. Great listen!
starts slow. gets better. jason can go from classic hero you root for to preachy annoying. otherwise decent book.
On of the greatest books I've ever listened to. Heath miller is the main reason this story has so much life
I love this book and how Jason isn't scared to speak his mind or if push comes to shove he'll just murder someone I mean shit the second day he was in his world he punched a hole through someone's chest and shoved a woman off a cliff such a peak book
Amazing fantasy book. Scratches that RPG itch perfectly. super interesting world building and the characters are delightful matched only by the superb narration by Heath.
Really like the main character and enjoyed the book looking forward to next one
Might start off a bit slow, but it quickly becomes one of the best books in the LitRPG genre. Grab it if you love snark MCs who power up and use their powers in amazing ways.
I’ve found the narrator’s tone dull, which made the book hard to listen too.
It took a little bit to get used to the terminology but this book is so rich with good times! I love the main character and the narrator is top tier.
I listen and read a large number of fantasy books and novels and found this book wonderfully enjoyable and the reader was absolutely amazing. I also play a large number of PC games focusing on cRPGs and this book was a fantastic blend of story telling and cRPG blend. I highly recommend this book to any fantasy reader. oh, and my wife who is not a strong lover of fantasy books loved this audiobook both writers and reader.
