Summary
C.S. Lewis’s Classic Work that Is Number 7 on National Review’s List of “100 Best Nonfiction Books of the Twentieth Century”

In The Abolition of Man, C.S. Lewis sets out to persuade his audience of the importance and relevance of universal values such as courage and honor in contemporary society. Both astonishing and prophetic, The Abolition of Man is one of the most debated of Lewis’s extraordinary works.

I give all Lewis’ works 5 stars. But compared to his other work, I’d give this a 3.8. This one gets into the heavy hitting philosophy immediately! I had to go really slow on this one. Lewis drops some philosophical bombs from the very beginning. It’s a lot to process.

The genius of CS Lewis was masked by the over annunciated narration. He seemed more enthusiastic with the sound of his own voice than the books content. Having said that though this book should be read as it is thought provoking as Lewis hones in on some seemingly frivolous notions that after his careful examination, are anything but.

I need to read the book myself. That narrator is terrible. His harsh, punctuated style leaves my head ringing as though slapped repeatedly.
