I don’t want to spoil the story line so I will concentrate on the accuracy and the humanity of this book.
As with all books in this series, I was struck by the young man, Peter, who in caring for another survivor, has proven himself to be a hero worthy of writing about. His character is written with genuine insight. This is no mere attempt to understand the mind of a young boy dealing with adversity.
The characters in this book reach out to you and implore you too empathise with them. This is a book with zombies and feeling.
The historical tone of this book is a great angle. Set in a time before the internet and anything more than 4 tv channels, I was a child of the 80’s and it really brought things back to me. Albeit, I don’t have that much recollection of Zombies. The military behave, speak and react in a way that they would have then. The idiosyncrasies of pompous officers, compared to the brutality of the fighting man is so accurate. Pomposity in the face of death. I love it.
I recommend this series to all. The narrator is brilliant, and the author is a writing machine.
Buy it, read it and enjoy it.
