Aftershocks

When a magnitude 7.8 earthquake hits California, Ruby is trapped underneath the remains of a collapsed laundromat with Charlie, a boy she’d first spoken to moments before. She can’t move or see
anything beyond the rubble that covers her, but she’s sure someone will come save them soon. As the hours and days tick by, Ruby only has Charlie’s voice and her memories to keep her company.
She thinks of her mom, who she’d fought with before she left for the laundromat.
