The writing is often cringey like patriarchal and seems outdated in the language used about world cultures and history. Reading this to a child I felt like it was a huge missed opportunity for learning about history and how histories are recorded and retold. I read so many good things about this series and I found it really surprisingly disappointing.
Meh. I guess I expected so much more. The story was there yet just slightly lacking.
audio had a good volume. enjoyed the depth of the character voices.
The story has an interesting premise, but the book runs a little slower.
