Unabridged Audiobook
I really enjoyed this book. I started reading it because I was going to go to a book tour event for Ali Rosen and wanted to have read one of her books when I met her. Since I went to Ireland last fall and loved it, I figured this would be a good fit. I did end up going to the event yesterday btw and Ali is such a sweetheart and so so funny! The book was slower in pace than what I expected, so it definitely dragged a bit in the middle. The ending was predictable but very enjoyably so, I would have been unhappy if it didn’t end that way. Brigid was 100% the best part of the book. The friendships and relationships depicted were lovely as well, and the trials and difficulties discussed between Beatrice and her ex husband Lucas were appropriately upsetting. It was awful reading about Beatrice’s struggles with infertility as someone going through them right now, but also very reassuring to feel seen. Just like she says, often all you need is for your friends and family to say that they may not understand but are there for you. Beatrice’s relationship with Mona and Bash were so wonderful, and Bash is such a curious smart kid that he was a great character to read about. NARRATION: this was my first time listening to a narration by Maria Marquis and I absolutely loved it!! I liked her pacing, loved her voices/accents. Honestly, I thought it was a dual narration until just now. She did a phenomenal job particularly with the voices for Beatrice, Jack, Brigid, and Bash, and I did not realize it was a single narrator until now. Her accents for the Irish Des was also awesome. Big big fan.
