Such a nice story for World War 1. Old romance is sweet and exciting!

I found this story very engaging . I enjoyed the story line and the character development. A lovely love story !

I don’t know French, so the mispronouncing of French words didn’t bother me. I loved the soft voice of the narrator.

I kept waiting for this book to start. It was very slow paced and not a lot of action. Very simple plot- no surprises. The narrator has a very calm voice that is relaxing to listen to but she should have done her research on how to pronounce Calais, salle-a-manger, quay and other worlds.

I really loved this story. It was a sweet yet thoughtful historical romance. However the narrator w as at times not really good with intonation.

Liked it Love the era

I enjoyed the book . It was well written, with a few mistakes.It was very descriptive, I could immerse myself in it. However, I was disappointed that the Narrator had not taken the trouble to find out correct pronunciation of some well known English and French landmarks Foe example, The Mersey River is Not Mercy River, Calais is not Callis. Ypres is not Yprès (ee-pray) ( the e is soft and the s is silent). What could have been a very interesting listen, became quite grating with the mis- pronunciations. Mary Ann has a good flow with her reading, able to portray different characters well, most of the time. It’s such a shame that the narration was spoiled by the mispronunciations. This should have been picked up in the proof reading and editing.

I really enjoyed this book. The only thing that slightly annoyed me was the narrator’s over-pronunciation of T’s. Silly, I know, but overall I enjoyed her reading, and the story itself was a wonderful historical romance.

Loved it! A great story and the narrator beings it to life.
