In Anne of Avonlea, L. M. Montgomery continues the adventures of the spirited Anne Shirley as she leaves Green Gables behind to become the new teacher at Avonlea school. Now a young woman, Anne faces the challenges of guiding her students while discovering that adulthood brings responsibilities, unexpected friendships, and plenty of opportunities for mischief.

With her imagination and determination still as strong as ever, Anne becomes involved in the Avonlea community and helps establish the Avonlea Village Improvement Society with her friends. Along the way, she encounters eccentric neighbors, troublesome students, new companions, and a variety of humorous situations.

As Anne grows older, she begins to see the world and herself with greater maturity. Her friendships deepen, new possibilities emerge, and the question of what the future holds begins to take shape. Filled with warmth, humor, friendship, and the charm of Prince Edward Island, Anne of Avonlea is a beloved coming-of-age classic about growing up without losing the imagination and optimism that make life extraordinary.
