Listen to the sample before buying this audiobook. The accent is not authentic to the area and the illogical pauses make me suspect this is AI. Nah, I’m not paying for that. Audiobooks are performances, not just reading. Some of the imagination is taken away when a material is being read to you and if the narrator is doing a bad job of it, like this AI/bot then it not only ruins the scope of imagination but makes the material confusing in a way the written word would not be. Hard pass.

Book is great so far. Great character development.. takes me back to those awkward middle school years. Narrator is mostly good. Her abrupt "7... 14... 11..." when the chapter changes is quite annoying. It's almost aggressive - she seems annoyed that she had to announce new chapters. More than that, she frequently stumbles... forgets a word or seems surprised that there was one more word in the line... sort of hiccups over some words. I've never heard another narrator do that. Other than those things she's great.
