Unabridged Audiobook
This book starts out on a very elementary level and I was prepared to be disappointed. However, it quickly picks up and by the middle I was hooked. Hurwitz makes a lot of good points and is mostly even-handed in disparaging Israel bashers from both the left and the right. She gives a good historical overview, which unfortunately is missing from most discussions of Israel. And encouraging Jews to learn more about what Judaism actually is, says, and does is never a bad thing.
I am a religious Christian-Conservative (not far right). I have support Israel for decades in my public pronouncements and with what money I can spare. HOWEVER the narrator never misses the chance to case aspersions on Conservatives, Republicans or right of center folks. She does not unleasch such invective on the far political left, academia, the medical profession and other that have become virulently anti-Israel. They seem to be merely misguided and soon will return to the liberal (excuse me progressive--sounds better) persuasion that sadly represents much of American jews. I did learn some things about the Jewish religion but it did not help me understand the paradox of their politics.
