Unabridged Audiobook
felt the story, got to know the people, and dreamed of trying to help them
I don’t do reviews but this is worth it! The story is massive in lots of ways… it was fantastically long which was just great. The characters are believable and all the more so because the narrator is awesome. He can switch characters in the blink of an eye, seamlessly…once you get to know them each is instantly recognisable and very believable, I’ve listened to a lot of books and I don’t think I’ve experienced such brilliant narrating. The cast of characters is huge and for one person to do them all is frankly quite brilliant. I would highly recommend the book not only because of the narrator bringing it to life but the story keeps you hooked. There are so many things to provoke your own thoughts and opinions despite it not being set in this world it is a world of parallels and instantly relatable. Great read maybe not for the squeamish…but now I want more….Naas? The only thing I missed not seeing is a map… Thank you David Hair and Nick Podehl for filling empty hours so entertainingly.
Hair approaches religion, governance, and intrigue in such realism that the more fantastic elements are believable and even relatable. I went through the entire quartet in rapid fashion, and was most impressed by how the characters remained consistent even as they grew and showed their deeper parts. Hair is definitely in tune with societies' best and worst facets. Nick Podehl is THE BEST. The life given to this series and the books of Patrick Rothfuss by this man have made me seek him out as much as any author. I would buy audio books narrated by this man.
