This book documents the conflict between the Medellin and Cali drug cartels, followed by the ascendency and demise of the Cali cartel, from the perspective of an insider who became an informant, events of the 1990s in Colombia. It is a chilling story of the depravity of the people and organizations supplying much of the international trade in cocaine and marijuana. It documents collaboration of government officials with organized crime, a collaboration that leaves ordinary citizens no place to turn for safety. The narrative is complete to the point of occasional tedium. I was persistent and felt it was worth sticking it out to learn about the concluding events.
Really enjoyed this look into the Columbia Cartel...very enlightening and informative.
