I only wish I could endure the pain of listening to the the skills the narrator. I will have to read it myself or find it narrated by another person.

terrible narrator

very worth while

An interesting life indeed. Narration a bit jerky, not so smooth flowing but a good effort.

He was an intelligent, resourceful man! I was disappointed that he lost parts of his autobiography and felt like a lot was missing.

Franklin's biography is of course one of the staples when it comes to learning about the Founders. It's short and interesting, and wonderful to hear his life from his own perspective. However, this narration pretty well puts you to sleep. Very monotone. Read the actual book, or pay for a better reading of it, lest you come away disliking this gem of an autobiography.

A truly well written and interesting book fatally compromised by the constant commercial advertisements from the publisher prior to each and every chapter! To compound the injury, the narrator sounds like Hal from 2001 Space Odyssey. I'd prefer to read the hard cover version so as to enjoy Dr. Franklin's thoughts and experiences without the distractions of the narrator and publisher in this audio version.

I do not see this book as an autobiography. It does not cover his whole life

Profile Avatar Gary W. Nov 2024

Horrible narrator! Reads like a 9th grade inner city kid. I lasted about 10min in this. Hard pass.

Profile Avatar Donna G. Apr 2023

The content is amazing!! What a life!! The language is archaic and the narrator ( Libra Vix recording) struggles in the reading of it. But still worth the story!!

A bit dull

Profile Avatar Anonymous Nov 2022

Narrator is very monotone!! Will have to read myself.

Profile Avatar BOB B. May 2022

The content seems to be very informative, but I can no longer stand to listen to the narration or the pace in which it was presented.

Profile Avatar Jacklyn V. May 2022

Way too long and too full of little details ‘Of some interest in parts ,but very boringi in others . Had to Leave it several times to listen to something more interesting !!the narrator droned on. and put me to sleep !

Great story, poorly read.

A very enjoyable listen. Franklin is by far the most fascinating Founding Father. He lived a hundred lifetimes in one.

Profile Avatar Audelena M. Aug 2021

what a painful narrator

Profile Avatar Kathy L. Jan 2021

couldn't get past the narrator's voice in the intro so can't comment on contents

Profile Avatar K Kr Dec 2017

Good narration. Excellent and inspiring to understand the early life of such a great visionary.

Profile Avatar Casey Nelson Dec 2016

The book was great, very interesting. The narration was for the most part decent, but at times very monotonous, and pausing at inappropriate times.

I recommend listening to this one twice. It doesn't read as a story or a modern biography. It reads/sounds more of someone finding anothers diary or journal. IMO doesn't draw you in as much. I wanted to know more about BF and chose this accordingly. He was a wise man we all know so I had to make it to the end regardless. Narrator should've read this twice himself before recording. This story/man deserves a seemless delivery.

B. Franklin, a man of honor and genius. Thank you Libravox for the reading!

Profile Avatar Chris Dezell Feb 2022

I think I would have enjoyed it more with a different narrator.
