Summary
'The evil foretold has risen...and we are all that stands between it and the end.'

Asher has come a long way for a fisherman's son. Together with his friend Prince Gar, he has defended their kingdom against its bitterest enemy, but at great cost.

Now, the evil mage Morg is preparing for his most deadly assault. Desperate, trapped in a broken body, Morg has little time and fewer scruples. And he has a plan.

As Gar and Asher unwittingly fall into a dangerous deception, Morg gets ever closer to his goal. And this victory would be particularly sweet...for who better to destroy the kingdom than the two who would give anything to save it?

Everybody is whining. It’s maddening!

I would listen to any book that Kirby Heyborne reads. He's very talented, and a pleasure to listen. I feel like the conclusion of the series was a bit rushed, considering how much time would be taken for one extremely dramatic argument over what could've been a passing moment. The characters desire to stubbornly fight with one another with such enthusiasm got a little tiresome. By the middle of Awakened Mage, I was bloody sick of hearing 'Barl, bloody save me', and 'Sink me bloody sideways'. The characters were overtly dramatic in this way, however I loved the setting, the magic, the horses, all of it. I will be checking out Karen's other books, but I hope that Kirby is the narrator!

After reading some of reviews I expected not to like the ending. However I liked it very much. i think the author did a great job wrapping up the story in a very satisfying way. I enjoyed reading all of the books and would love to see a sequel (in addition to the prequel.)

Great continuation of the story. This one kept me tense for a good portion of the book. Still an excellent narrator!

Great book. Great ending to the story started in The Innocent Mage. A lot of action in this one, and Asher finally gets to know whats going on! Dont forget to read The Prodigal Mage and The Reluctant Mage after you finish this, really makes it an epic tale all together.
