Back Where We Began was a slow burn, second chance romance with all the small town feels.Emma left town 9 years ago and cut off all contact with everyone. She is returning for a quick trip because someone very close to her passed away and left her his business. Unfortunately, she immediately has a run-in with her ex-boyfriend Caden when he pulls her over and gives her a ticket. Caden is furious with how she left and broke his heart when they were teens. Caden can’t stop thinking about her, and his feelings shift when he finds out the reason she left town. They obviously still have deep feelings for each other, but he has a girlfriend, and Ema was not planning to stay in town.I am pretty picky when it comes to second chance romance, but I thought this one was good except for Emma’s reason for leaving. I thought it was pretty weak reasoning to leave and cut off all contact with her boyfriend and best friend for 9 years. I could kind of understand her reaction because she was just a teenager, but it was tough. I also didn’t love the way the girlfriend situation was handled. Audiobook Review The audiobook was narrated by Jeremy York and CJ Bloom. They did a great job showing the mutual pining and angst between the characters. The audiobook honestly made me round up my rating because the narrators did a fantastic job.
