Unabridged Audiobook
Wonderful story and the characters become so real.
This is my third Barbara Kingsolver novel and I have to say, she is my new favourite author. Her characters really get under your skin and stay with you long after you've finished the book. Her descriptions are simple but evocative and natural.
Slow start however it grew on me and now I miss the characters!
Narrator is horrible. She can’t pronounce Estevan. You would assume that you would check on the pronunciation of a major character’s name before narrating an entire book. Also, she apparently thinks that an Appalachian accent is the same as the midwestern accent. One of the characters from Kentucky sounds like she’s from Minnesota. Very distracting from what is a pretty good story
Page-turner!!! Loved the narrator
So sweet and humorous, rich metaphors. The only thing I didn't love was the way the narrator made Turtle's voice.
I first learned of Barbara Kingsolver in a writing class of mine reading her novel, The Poisonwood Bible. She is an amazing writer with such command of the English language, her narration, and her layered stories. She is astounding. I definitely recommend to get to know her work. You won't regret it. Simply an amazing book, and an amazing writer.
this book was absolute perfection. five out of five stars.
