Summary
The London Borough of Hackney is run by the crime syndicate Bai Ze. One night an expensive horse carriage arrives at their headquarters. Behind the carriage is the leader of the Bai Ze, Mr.
Quin, hanging at the end of a bloody rope. The journey here has stripped him of his clothes and shredded most of his skin off him. He rasps one final word to his second in command: 'Mogwai'.

It's the Cantonese word for the devil. In London the normal order of the criminal syndicates has been broken and a new dangerous villain is playing to win the entire game. It is also ruining the business of the Bohemia - the secret underworld club. The members are being killed and club owner, Irene Adler, must seek the help of the only person who can solve these mysterious murders - Sherlock Holmes.
Somewhere at the other end of all these murders lies the truth about Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty.

First, the series was excellent. An elevated twist on the classic SH. The first book suffered a little by the dual authorship, but only at the start. When Sarah J. Naughton took over for the later two books, her writing was captivating. Excellent cadence to her story telling, elevated by the narrator. Highly recommend!!!

Beautifully read! Alfred Enoch is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators.I'm also completely enamored of Naughton's take on the Holmes tales, set in a near-future dystopian London. So very glad I stumbled onto this series.

I’m a big fan of the original Sherlock Holmes stories so I was interested to listen to this. I’ve also listened to both other books in this trilogy and I have to say that I’ve enjoyed them all. The characters of Sherlock Holmes, Dr Watson and the bond of friendship they share is endearing and other main and lesser characters who are repurposed from the original Holmes stories is clever. I found the setting, well into the future when much of the world as we know it has collapsed, a bit muddled. Horses and carriages alongside high tech and scientific advances to be a bit muddled. But I’ve bulk listened to all three books several times and hope more are in the offing. The narrator was excellent.

Once again, great narration for this book series. It improves the overall quality of the book; especially with the voice of Sherlock Holmes. As for the story, usually by the third book of the series, I tend to get a bit bored. Don’t try to start this book without listening to the first two books or you will be confused by the story. Overall, it’s a good read and recommended.

I enjoyed this third book. Much improved from the second book. It was good to get a better handle on who Moronta is. And left the story with a wonder of what’s gonna happen next.

It's really good totally called the plot but still good. It was intriguing and it kept my attention all the way through out the book

An excellent installment in the Beginning Sherlock series. A wonderfully faithful retelling in a near future setting.

I find this series totally entertaining. Readers who are traditionalist about Sherlock Holmes might not care for it, but I think it is excellent. It keeps me riveted to where I don’t want to put it down and the way they’ve gone about it is fascinating. I cannot get enough of it and hope that the series continues. The one thing that I would suggest to the author is to finish the volumes including Moriarty and to expand into other villains. I would like to see Dr. Watson’s relationship with Missy continues, and the interaction between the two of them and Sherlock stays a major part of the story. The people who decided to go this direction with Sherlock Holmes are brilliant.

fantastic series. I love the reimagined story line. I read it's only a trilogy and I'm disappointed! I hope they continue the story line under another heading then. Sherlock continues, grows, expands! anything! please continue the storyline!
