Unabridged Audiobook
Oh my Lisa Jewel !!!Your love of words is showing and i enjoyed every word! Exquisite book!!! Such great overlapping stories. I really enjoyed this book and grew to love Betty, Arlette & Godfrey!!! (I even googled Godfrey, hoping he was a real musician) Being paired so perfectly with Helen Duff the narrator. She brought the characters to life. I love the accents . And i cried happy tears in the end. Thank you for giving us an awesome escape into this gorgeous story
I’m stunned to see so many low reviews. I don’t hand out five stars easily at all but I really, really loved this story! Definitely didn’t find the predictability that others did and was kept entranced for the next bit. Wonderful, cozy, emotional story!
Great read!!
Slow to start but very good once it gets going
So boooooring, accents were annoying , but the subject matter was bland and pointless. The characters weren’t interesting enough to become vested in . The plot was boring and drawn out .
I loved this book and I am a huge fan of this author. Great, well written, interesting and heartwarming story. Lisa you did it again. ❤️
I loved this story and the narrator was fabulous!
This was a well-written, unique story, that had several unexpected twists in the story. Quite long, but still it kept me curious snd interested.
lovely story. engaging characters.
Sweet story. Greta narration.
I have listen to many Lisa Jewell books. Some are great some are let downs. This one was in the middle. The first half was very mundane. Boring in some spots.. but when they started to talk about Godfrey pickles, it became more interesting. But then at the end, it was kind of like not knowing what to write. Let’s just have somebody die. I’m so sure if I like this one or I didn’t it’s not the worst or the best of her books just right in the middle.
Excellent book!
Loved the English & Caribbean Accents and how could anyone not fall in love with Betty!
The narrator was amazing! All the accents were so well done.
A little slow at times, but overall good book.
Love love loved this story/book!
Good
Lisa Jewell does it again! As captivating and real as ever.
I thought the narrator was awesome. What a lovely book!
Love it!
Great story!
Lovely dual story book. Narrator did a great job
I loved the story. Narrator was excellent. Very good listen.
This is my first Lisa Jewell book but it won't be my last! I immediately connected with the characters and cared about the story. I wasn't sure which way things were going to go but I wanted to find out. Best book I've listened to in a while. I loved the narrator too!
I really enjoyed this book, you won’t be disappointed!
Good story, interesting and I was vested in the characters. Pleasing narration.
This is a fun read. It's not my favorite Lisa Jewell book, but I still enjoyed the plot. The narrator was also not my favorite. I didn't love the voices she gave to some of the characters. But, I was still able to listen all the way through (I've actually given up on a few audiobooks and just read them based on the voices).
I had to slow the speaker rate in order to slow down and understand the narrator. Frustrating listen. Slow pace. I tried, but never finished.
Great book!
Well crafted & kept me engaged until the end.
The book started a little slow and confusing but I got to say it was so worth it, such a beautiful story. And the voice of the narrator is so beautiful.
I really liked this book. You know who these characters are and get drawn into how they got to be that way.
This was a free book and my first by this author I really enjoyed the story and I thought the twists in the plot as it unfolded were pleasant surprises. I will definitely give Lisa Jewell’s another read.
I enjoyed the story. Thee are moments it felt too long, but overall a fun read. Enjoyed the narrator too!
I thoroughly enjoyed it... the narrator was excellent. The two eras were beautifully woven, spoken and I felt like I was in their homes (flat), in the jazz clubs, and it took us away to experience their lives, frustrations, and their growths.
Great dual timeline - loved the story and reader!
good book!
I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did. I’m a big fan of Lisa Jewel’s thrillers, but I did love Ralph’s Party, and this was a freebie. I really loved the story. I loved Betty. Was very happy with my VIP pick!
Interesting storyline. I appreciated the honesty in the main character to do what was right in regards to the inheritance. The language was a bit rough, but I guess that’s a sign of the times. The narration was phenomenal !!!! I will look for Helen Huff in other books I listen to in the future.
Excellent read. Great story, and well written.
Lisa Jewell did not disappoint. I listened to this book. Found it to be a little difficult to follow sometimes. Suggest reading versus listening. Story line was excellent. Characters were believable and The author did a good job developing the characters while creating a compelling story line.
This was interesting while I was reading it but has become forgettable since then. May be worth a second read. (I was going thru something hard at the time.)
It started out a good storyline but then plunged into descriptive behavior I don’t want to hear about. Ruined it for me. I wish they would rate books for content then I wouldn’t have purchased it in the first place. There is right and wrong. Vulgarity is vulgarity.
I really enjoyed this book and the narrator was excellent
