Unabridged Audiobook
A book well worth the 'read'.... I want my granddaughters to read this very well done poignant telling about the abduction of 200+ Nigerian school girls by Boko Haram.. You will not regret familiarizing yourself about this human story....The power and essentially of education for impoverished girls is vividly demonstrated by the author. Regrettably, and sadly, this event is out of our consciousness now but the story is both heartwarming for the brave and strong girls finally released but heart wrenching as well for what they overcame and the still unaccounted 100+ girls. The book very interestingly and effectively interweaves the lives of specific girls and their families within the overall powerful narrative. . The author is also the narrator adding personal passion and effectiveness in reading the book....her accent just necessitated my having the audio speed at 1.25 versus 1.5x.
A powerful and inspiring story of strong girls and women navigating and overcoming the insurmountable challenges that women across the earth face. It captures the gender imbalances in family, education, religion and politics and the vulnerabilities that women face in being treated as commodities especially in terrorism. Despite this, Isha Sesay captures the unique beauty, strength and grace of the feminine especially being held up by faith, hope and love.
