Summary
There is much made about death / bereavement, but there shouldn't be because whatever you do or don't do after the death of someone, no matter how close, it is not going to make any difference whatsoever.

Nor does a demonstration of opulence and grandeur show any more love than a single bunch of flowers, other than appease your own ego. Turning up to a funeral of someone who you haven't seen for years is hypocritical unless you are a celebrity and then its justified exposure.

Life is for the living not the dead, that will come to us all eventually. The pomp that religions dress up services with is rubbish, if you are drowned at sea or eaten by a lion does that mean that God wont know? Of course it doesn't. And if you are an atheist then who cares you're a mistake anyway so you've gone back to bone meal for tomorrow's flowers.
