This book mostly consists of little regalings of field observers, hunters, and travelers who discuss what they know of particular animals. It's from a western perspective, very period specific (from the late 1800s), and definitely shows it. I don't see it noted in the description of the audiobook anywhere, but be warned that a few of these stories involve animal cruelty or deaths. There are also multiple narrators used for this recording, so that can sometimes suck you out of the retellings, but I personally didn't find any of the chapters to be badly performed.
