Summary:

Every seven years, on the seventh day of the seventh month, strange things happen. It began when three young boys - Caleb, Fox, and Gage - went on a camping trip to the Pagan Stone. And twenty-one years later, it will end in a showdown between evil and the boys who have become men - and the women who love them... This modern-day legend draws reporter and author Quinn Black to Hawkins Hollow with the hope of making the eerie happening the subject of her new book. It is only February, but Caleb Hawkins, descendent of the town founders, has already seen and felt the stirrings of evil. Though he can never forget the beginning of the terror in the woods twenty-one years ago, the signs have never been this strong before. Cal will need the help of his best friends, Fox and Gage, but surprisingly he must rely on Quinn as well. She, too, can see the evil that the locals cannot, somehow connecting her to the town - and to Cal. As winter turns to spring, Cal and Quinn will shed their inhibitions, surrendering to a growing desire. They will form the cornerstone of a group of men and women bound by fate, passion, and the fight against what is to come from out of the darkness...

Another great start to a trilogy from Nora Roberts! I found myself in love with these characters by the end and couldn't WAIT to get the next installment! But don't get attached to the narrator and his interpretation of these characters, otherwise you'll be let down by the narrator of the 2nd book.

Sign of Seven Trilogy keeps your waiting for what will happen next. I was so drawn into the story line I hurried to get book #2 "The Hollow". As soon as I hit play I was so let down. The narrator was different which changed the personalities of the characters and the writer didn't use the same style as this book making the whole trilogy a big let down. I will listen to book #3 so I am not forever wondering how it ends. This time though I will be prepared when I hit play.

I actually ended up with someone giving me Pagan Stone on cd, once I listened to it, I couldn't get my hands on the first book fast enough, although I know how it ends, the books are well enough written to stand on their own as well as keep you interested in the series! Excellent!

The story was fabulous but the narrator was irritating. He gave odd accents and speech qualities to a couple of characters and made ALL of the women characters sound like they were whining no matter what they were saying. I want to listen to books 2 and 3 but I have to wait awhile to get over the irritation of listening to that narrator project qualities into the characters that are not really there. A New York accent for someone who moved to the city a few years ago is not reasonable when they originally came from the area the story takes place. This was a case of a great story being ruined by the narrator!

I am really "into" this story now and anxious for the next book to be delivered to my door for listening. Nora always delivers, in my book.
