Unabridged Audiobook
Just fabulously written, historic accuracy, very entertaining I enjoyed it very much and I learned a lot
This novel helped me to realize how utterly absent the perspectives of women are from much of history. Even with the law and religion literally built to oppress them, of course women were wise, and calculating, and taking advantage of any autonomy they were able to leverage - in public, by “playing the game,” or in secret - and it was refreshing to read a work of historical fiction that is probably closer to the truth than much of what is written in traditional history books. I’ll be looking for more from Philippa Gregory.
Great story about a not so well known player in Tudor England. Great interview with author at the end. Worth the listen!
