I love a good origin story and seeing Alastair become the Axl we love in the Broken Bloodlines series gave us such a wonderful peek inside his brain. The history of how he came to be with Alexandros helps us understand why he is so dedicted to him. Quick and spicy read/listen and such a good snack while we waited for book 3 to be released!

I listened to the audiobook version of this novella and it made me love these characters even more. In it you get to see how Axl became a vampire and how the familial relationship started between Axl and Alexandros. Yes the guys are douchebags, all self-absorbed, and it's all about blood and sex, and very dubious consent. But first of all the best vampire stories are exactly like that, and second of all it shows the growth and evolution of these two characters once they meet Ophelia. It makes their connection and their relationship with Ophelia that much more significant, and deep. Because they changed for her and because of her. I need more!!

Amazing Story & Listen! Smoking Hot & Intriguing! Sadie Kincaid takes us back in time to witness the turning of Alastair Thorne, and shows us the birth of Axl, the vampire. Alastair was a very naughty boy in Georgian, England, getting around and into beds and women he shouldn’t be in or with. Running for his life, he winds up running into another form of trouble, Alexandros Drakos, who presents him with an offer, one he can not refuse. This novella is smoking hot and will set your device on fire, an intriguing story, one that answers questions about his past, and how it all began for Axl. It is great to learn more about these amazing characters and I hope the others get their own origin stories, too. ~ Maxine Mitchell, Sean Masters and Joe Arden deliver an exceptional performance, voicing these characters and delivering a perfect portrayal of each. You could not ask for a better cast to bring these characters and story to life, they are amazing voice artists and storytellers. This is a gem of a listen and a treat for your ears.

This prequel isn't necessary to have read before the other books, but it enhanced the books and the character development.
