Written By: Tina Fey

Narrated By: Tina Fey

Date: April 2011

Duration: 5 hours 30 minutes

Spirited and whip-smart, these laugh-out-loud autobiographical essays are 'a masterpiece' from the Emmy Award-winning actress and comedy writer known for 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and SNL' (Sunday Telegraph).

Before Liz Lemon, before 'Weekend Update,' before 'Sarah Palin,' Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV.

She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon -- from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes Special, Never-Before-Solicited Opinions on Breastfeeding, Princesses, Photoshop, the Electoral Process, and Italian Rum Cake!

This was a very funny and interesting book. There are a lot of references to the PDF pictures in the book. There should be a link to those pictures.

A highly enjoyable listen. Ready by anyone other then Tina it would not have been so good. My advice, don't listen to this in a place where you would be embarrassed to laugh out loud.

I LOVED this book! A friend recommended and Tina Fey, as always, doesn't disappoint! I found that if I wasn't listening to her narrate the book and was, instead, reading it, I wouldn't have been able to do it justice as she did. She emphasized where she meant to and whispered where she meant to and it all added up to a fun, enjoyable listening experience. Highly recommend and especially in audiobook format!

This is a seriously good listen! Tina Fey tells her story with perfect comedic timing, and even if you've read this book before, it is WAAAAYYYY better in audio form. You won't be disappointed with this book!

Very good. Listened to it while alternating with another, heavier book about serial killers. It was just what I needed to make me laugh out loud and pull me out of the dark place the other book had put me into. Also had some surprising nuggets of good advice and real wisdom artfully woven into this highly memorable, and very relatable piece. Tina Fey reading it made it even better. Highly recommend!

The book is wonderfully entertaining. It is one of those delicious books that is genuinely better read aloud. I would sincerely recommend this book, especially as an audiobook.

Hate her politics, love her writing. Additionally wonderful because she narrates her own words, the best form for an audiobook to take.

Tina all the way. Delightfully sarcastic!

Absolutely entertaining and enlightening insight into the life of one of the funniest and most talented actor/producer/writer (& awesome mom) ever. Loved it! Also having Tina read her book was amazeballs!

A little late - but we got to know Tina and what drives her captivating humor. Make sure you have a double-shot espresso ready to keep pace with her narration. I think she may have been fueled by the same when writing and reading. She drops a nice volume of cryptic references that may not be caught if you're distracted while listening.

  • Anne B.

Do not like the book and thé narrator.

  • Michael S.

Tina Fey is amazing. Live her even more, very well done

  • Krista D

LOVED THIS BOOK! I love Tina Fey and her witty sarcasm! So glad she read it herself, it wouldn't have been the same if it were someone else. I am sure I looked like a crazy person laughing in my car commuting to work but soooo worth it!

  • Crystal Hubbard

Absolutely hilarious! It's an excellent book that I 100% recommend. Like the other reviews say, don't listen to this book if your not comfortable smiling and laughing like a crazy person in public.

  • andrew mcgee

Hilarious and insightful. A truly wonderful experience, you must listen to this book!

  • Barbara Wilbur

Hilarious! And it gets better as it goes, so if you're a little undecided after 30-60 minutes, stick with it.

  • Tara English-Sweeney

Entertaining book and I loved that Tina Fey narrated it herself.

  • lennie albers

First audio book and i loved it. Tina is a great storyteller!

  • Brittany Hart

Funny but kind of short. Wish I'd noticed that before hand. But I Iove Tina Fey! She's Hilarious! I agree it would not have been as good of a read as it was a listen narrated by Tina.

  • Jean Montano

The audio quality was great, very easy to stop and start as needed, and I like that it automatically paused and kept going whenever the GPS woud interrupt to say something. Also, Tina Fey is hilarious.

  • Casey Jacob

Hilarious and honest. Laugh out loud funny! Would highly recommend this book for a first time audiobook experience.

  • Gina Rustici

Enticing and interesting! A good read and interesting account of SNL life.

  • Kelli Palen

For this being my first time ever really listening to an audio book I sure picked a great one. Bossypants is funny, honest, and an all around great book. It has Tina Fey's quirky sense of humor which I love and I enjoyed listening to it. I would definitely recommend this book!

  • Ashtynn Edenhofer

Great book to listen to on a long road trip! Tina Fey never disappoints, super funny!

  • Hillary Kuklenski

This book was great. Having Tina Fey as the narrator made it better

  • Suzanne Anderson

She was funny. But actually kind of irritating. It was kind of a brag story about all the cool things she has accomplished and also a women's manifesto about working and being moms and being successful and being a comedienne. She did make me laugh. And it was kind of a story of a lady with first world problems.

  • Jessica Moore

I'm already a fan of Tina Fey and think she is talented. This autobiographical audio book is quite funny and I love hearing Tina as the narrator. After being fully invested in the 5.5 hours of her abridged tales of childhood, personal and family life, and experience with improv, writing, and acting I admire her for honesty and without a doubt I respect her work so much more.

  • Kayla Schroepfer

Amazing! Love the TIna Fey narration! I believe that if I would have simply red the book myself it would not have gotten the full effect! I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good laugh!

  • dwijal mehta

Very funny! Full of insights. Tina Fey does a great job as narrator. It's an absolute must for Fey fans or anyone who loves comedy. :)

  • AsyA Webb

Funny and entertaining . She makes the most casual assessments of situations hysterical.

  • Kathy Keil-Rogers

Tina is so clever, she's wicked quick and very real! Loved her book and especially loved that she was the narrator...!

  • Stacy Griffin

Very funny!! I think she should make another one. I would love to hear more details about her family life with her kids.

  • Amanda Krzywonski

This was an absolutely wonderful book. Part of what made it so awesome was that it is an autobiography by Tine Fey, herself. Having one of the most wonderful comedians read her life to us is a once in a lifetime gift to come across. You see a side of a woman that you never knew existed. You find you oddly have things in common, and find a way to smile about the most twisted topics in life! 5 stars all the way around!!!

  • Melissa Zajac

Amazing, great book. I laughed and laughed, it was perfectly written

  • Joy Sichveland

So Funny! Tina Fey cracks me up over and over again. Made a long car ride very enjoyable.

  • Shana Simpson

Loved this book! Tina has great insight into life and I got some great thoughts while listening to this!

  • Chelsea Kohfield

Fey had me giggling in fits and then quite in thought, her honesty was so refreshing even my husband was cracking up to it! So glad to have listened to Bossypants!

  • Katie Shelvy

Very funny. I love the fact I can picture Tina talking directly to me about *stuff and it makes me love her even more!

  • Lisa Flemming

My boyfriend and I listened to this on a road trip and we both really enjoyed it! She had some hilarious points that also provided a refreshing perspective on how to live your life.

  • Marisa Colone

YES. Everything about this book is perfect. Tina Fey is obviously the best person to narrate a book about herself. Bossypants had me laughing out loud almost the entire time. When I wasn't laughing, I was relating to her

  • Melissa DiLonardo

Witty and smartly entertaining. Tina is a joy to listen to.

  • Joseph Compton

I really enjoyed this book. I'm a sucker for a celebrity biography. I recently purchased this title and couldn't take my earbuds out. Highly recommended to anyone who also enjoys celebrity biographies. Also, I really enjoyed having Tina Fey narrate it.

  • graftonqueen

Cute and funny, just like Tina Fey. I enjoyed this biography. It was revealing and informative; more than just about Ms. Fey. I kept talking about it to my daughter because I think she and Ms. Fey could be related somehow; They are that much alike. It inspired my to binge on 30 Rock, which I had not seen, so I watched all the episodes. Great show! And who does not like the genius of "Mean Girls"? C'mon!

This is a funny, well-written book on its own, and the audiobook format makes it even better. Not only is the book read by Tina Fey herself (ensuring that all the jokes have the right timing and inflection), but the publisher/Tina Fey makes full use of the format by adding-in sound bytes from SNL. Highly recommended!

  • Natalie Caldwell

I can't say enough positive things about this booked! I laughed so much, yet related. I have made the ultimate decision that Tina Fey & I are BFFs!

  • Leanna Lehmer

Tina Fey is hilarious. Her stories had me giggling at my desk at work. (I'm sure my coworkers think I'm insane!)

  • Shaun

Fast, fun listen. Fey is an excellent narrator--and her story manages to be mundane and interesting at the same time: that's hard to pull off! I highly recommend.

  • melissa wilkins

I totally cracked up throughout the whole book! It was even better that Tina herself read the book...I highly recommend this book. It shows very relatable situations to career women everywhere.

I just don't find Tina Fey funny I guess, I didn't laugh once on the first 2 CD's and found her life to be very uninteresting.

  • Jessica Teal

Loved the book! Tina is so entertaining and had me laughing out loud!

  • Anonymous

Just as funny as she is on TV. Ineterestin g to learn the background of some of her sketches and how she forms ideas.

  • Dana

I had wanted to read this book for some time. When I signed up for Simply Audio is was the first book to go in my bookshelf. Tina Fey is a nut and she tells it how she sees it. If you are looking for a great reason to laugh out loud while stopped at a red light, this book is for you. You will not be dissapointed.

  • Anonymous

Very enjoyable book to listen to! Laughed out loud numerous times. Loved the part when she talked about her dad - Don Fey - and working in the YMCA.

  • VerOnica Firestine

Hilarious and insightful. A thoroughly entertaining listen.

  • valorie pruitt

It was okay but I lost interest after a while. Narration was alright but I just didn't think it was hilarious. I guess just not my kind of humor.

  • Anonymous

Very intelligent. Enjoyed the sporadic cursing. Colorful.

  • Luke Payne

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. This was audiobook heaven for me.

  • test test

A highly enjoyable listen. Ready by anyone other then Tina it would not have been so good. My advice, don't listen to this in a place where you would be embarrassed to laugh out loud.

Enjoyed the language, descriptions, and found it funny. Am always interested in how someone ends up where they do.

  • Anonymous

Funny and insightful. It was fun to listen to. Adult humor, most of which is not necessary, so don't listen in front of your children.

  • Anonymous

Entertaining and Funny well worth the time. Clearly showed the hard work and talent it takes to be a writer
