Summary
Boston Blackie is the novelization of a group of pulp short stories by Jack Boyle (1881-1928). Blackie, an ex-con with a college education, is a jewel thief based in San Francisco, who outwits the cops with the help of his wife Mary. The character was altered for a later series of popular films and radio shows to become a “reformed” jewel thief turned private eye. (Summary by Winston Tharp)

I really enjoyed listening to the stories about Boston Blackie and Mary. The narrator was pleasant to listen to and the stories a glimpse into the life of a thief with character. I would have liked to hear more about what happened to Boston Blackie and the children he was taking care of at the very beginning after the San Francisco fire.

Dated but still great fun. The crook with a heart of gold and strong moral compass. Wonderful narrator.

I am a fan of “Old Time Radio” so I took a chance getting this book - what a pleasant surprise. Written more than 3 decades before I was born one would expect this book to be very dated – not so. I thoroughly enjoyed it. BTW, the narrator was perfect for the story line. I highly recommend it.
