Unabridged Audiobook
Thank you to the author for the review copy. This series just makes my heart happy. They are a bit formulaic after reading three in a row, but aren’t most books formulaic at times? And does it matter if the formula works? Our Orc this go around is Branikk and he’s literally the sweetest. So happy and proud of his Moon Bride, Grace. He’s a golden retriever in Orc form. And Grace needs a golden retriever. She’s been hurt in the past by bullies, so she needed someone who is unabashedly adoring to her. They just fit. Add in some snarky fae best friends in unicorn and wolf form, and you’ve got yourself an enjoyable read. I already think I know who will be the next Orc and I am SO PUMPED and can’t wait.
I really enjoyed this installment to the series. The characters for each are all written in a way that makes them distinct and add to this community of orcs and witches, and friends. The FMC, Grace, had a refreshing personality, and though I found her denial of everything in front of her to be a little annoying, I think it's a realistic response to her being pulled into a new world. Having read the e-book prior to listening to the audiobook, I may have been a bit impatient for her to accept and get some orc lovin' I did also forget how many times she says "Hella" That bit was a bit much for me. One thing that I really loved about this book is the immediate, and unwavering devotion and support Branikk, the MMC, has for Grace. He is able to build her up when she had been torn down so many times, and I loved that balance in their relationship. This book gives all the cozy vibes, is low angst. It's the perfect palette cleanser after reading darker or heavier romances, and has the perfect balance of fluff and fantasy. The narrators were great. I enjoyed Sierra Kline's interpretation of Grace. Overall I find her voice incredibly soothing, and the voices she inflects for the other characters really immerses the reader in the story. Sean Masters also does a really wonderful job of voicing Branikk. The carnival powers was also something unexpected and refreshing. I don't think I've ever read a fantasy book where the power had to do with carnivals. Ha! Definitely a fun read.
Narration gets 5 ⭐️s, once again—You just can’t go wrong with Sean Masters’ sexy baritone and Sierra Kline’s adaptive voice. Both voice actors read so naturally, it is easy to become lost to the story. I think Grace is my favorite, so far. Her magic is remarkable—how fun would that really be to bring machines of joy from your childhood for others to experience?? Plus, she’s smart as a whip, can fix pretty much anything, and, well, Branikk—that creek scene is pretty hot
I LOVE this series. It’s such a fun fantasy romance story that’s loaded with feel good moments. The FMC (Grace) is a tall and broad woman from a stern upbringing, she works at a carnival as a machine engineer. Our MMC is a charming hilarious hunter oh, and obviously an orc! The building of their relationship? Chefs kiss! The MMC is absolutely smitten from day one but our FMC takes some convincing of her worth. M/F Orc x Human Bantering adorable sidekicks Aphrodisiac Tentacles!! Spice ️ 3.5 out of 5 but story makes it all the better!
