Summary
When his sister tricks him into taking her guru on a trip to their childhood home, Otto Ringling, a confirmed skeptic, is not amused. Six days on the road with an enigmatic holy man who answers every question with a riddle is not what he'd planned. But in an effort to westernize his passenger-and amuse himself-he decides to show the monk some 'American fun' along the way. From a chocolate factory in Hershey to a bowling alley in South Bend, from a Cubs game at Wrigley field to his family farm near Bismarck, Otto is given the remarkable opportunity to see his world-and more important, his life-through someone else's eyes. Gradually, skepticism yields to amazement as he realizes that his companion might just be the real thing.

In Roland Merullo's masterful hands, Otto tells his story with all the wonder, bemusement, and wry humor of a man who unwittingly finds what he's missing in the most unexpected place.

I absolutely loved this book. I have read all 3 now - first dinner, then lunch, then breakfast - so not in the order one should. However each is a complete story although an extension of the story before too. It was fine. I've enjoyed all 3 and listened to them each twice over! I've never done this with any book before this. There were just so many truths beneath the hilarious antidotes and yet there were also moments of profound sadness too. Such a panorama of life experiences through the eyes of someone awakening to the meaning of life itself. I highly recommend these books. The author is amazing but so is the narrator. What delight! Thank you to audiobooks for offering the 'Dinner with Buddha' as the freebie last month. It opened me to this wonderful collection that I'll never delete !

Loved the story. I found a lot of synchronicity between the story and my own life. The narrator is perfect - I will look for more books to listen to because this narrator is THAT GOOD.

A wonderful read! It makes you wonder about the spiritual "more" that you may be missing. It makes you laugh and cry and feel triumphant all in the same moment. I would highly recommend this audiobook!
