Unabridged Audiobook
The Brit. I was hooked from very early in. Worth investing time in and completing the Unlawful Men Series. Its toxicity at its best, and I was here for it.
Love the voice of Brit
Honestly mind blowing!
That was better than I expected. A very good book.
If I could give it more stars I could. I wasn’t expecting to like this book, but has ended up being my absolute favorite read so far this year. It is beautifully written, the plot, the characters. Even the side characters were interesting to me. The narrators told this story so well. 6/5 book. I loved it
This book was amazing, I loved it. Totally a good listen, I can't wait to listen to the next one. The narrotors did an amazing job, I would recommend for sure to anyone, it had some twist and turns I wasn't excepting, I would guess and I was wrong g each time.
Not a bad book, would I read it again probably not
This was my first Jodi Ellen Malpas book. I don't know what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn’t that. It was heavy and unhinged, with a surprising layer of warmth. This is the type of dark/mafia romance that I enjoy. Danny's the type of morally grey hero I swoon over. Some readers will definitely hate their dynamic, but it's as healthy of a relationship as you'll get in a dark mafia romance. I loved how the spicy scenes were written. Despite the hardness they grew up in, and the darkness of their world, the intimate moments are surprisingly tender and they’re crucial for the development of their relationship, not just gratuitous. And the ending... The last hour and an half/ two hours had me in a chokehold, on an emotional roller-coaster. I really enjoyed the narration. Shane East is one of my favourite narrators and I haven't heard him in a while, so this was a treat. He plays the role of the tortured hero so well. This is dual-style narration, and his female voice has that slightly whiny tone some listeners can’t stand, and his American accent isn’t the strongest. As a fan, I knew this going in, so it didn’t affect my enjoyment at all - just giving other listeners a heads up. For context, the main character and most of his men are British (Shane’s natural accent), but the story is set in the US, so there are a few American side characters. I've only listened to a handful of titles by Vanessa Edwin and I really enjoyed her performance. She played all the different sides of Rose so well conveying all the emotions or lack thereof. She also does a convincing male voice, although her British accent sometimes sounded Australian, in my opinion. Highly recommend this book, but check the trigger warnings if you're not a regular dark romance reader.
Loved it! Got it as a freebie, being led by other reviews, not my usual genre. Really great actors, I got really invested in the story. Enjoyed the character development and reveals as it went on. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it, recommend
