Winona did not make the best showing in the previous book in this series. She was still dealing with some poor life choices, and she had lost sight of her true self. She was trying to be more authentic at the end of that book, but she wasn't all the way there yet. It turns out that she needs Riggs in order to reach her best life, and he needs her for the same thing. These two have fantastic chemistry right off the bat. I was laughing so hard when they met! They send sparks all over the place, and it scares them both. They try to focus other things, but they eventually have to face their feelings for one another. Together, they make an excellent couple. I really enjoyed visiting Stone Ridge again!

We are back in Stone Ridge where a one night changes the lives of country singer Winona James and widower lawyer, Riggs Henderson. Winona never expected to get pregnant at the age of 39 and thus is thrilled with the outcome of that one night. Determined to have the baby , she has no interest in marriage. What she didn’t expect was Riggs outrage. He too is invested in this future child as he has no kids of his own and truly wants one. Not trusting Winona, he proposes marriage for a year and later a divorce so long as she stays in Stone Ridge for the entire year. Though going against her better judgement, Winona agrees. But what happens when feelings develop? Will they end the marriage after a year, or will they realize that together is the best choice? The characters are well develops and the plot engaging. The narration by Johanna Parker brings the audiobook to life. I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
