Unabridged Audiobook
Great book to help a bully learn a better way. Lainie Cooke does a fabulous job engaging the listener with her melodic tones.
I really enjoyed this story and how it allows a young person with big feelings to navigate emotions and make good decisions with respect to their behavior. And, by separating the behaviors from the young person, the author allows the youngster to evaluate his or her behavior from a bird's eye view, without taking it personally and feeling like a bad person. But, at the end of each chapter, the exercises and questions that the narrator asks allow the listener to take the material in the book and only then apply it to themselves and how they might react in these situations, pulling it all together. A really great exercise for those children who have difficulty managing their anger and other emotions. Very well done.
Loved this book! Such an important topic and delivered in such a smart and entertaining tale. Can’t wait to share this story (and lesson) with my grandson!
I really enjoyed listening to the audio version of A Bully Grows Up: Erik Meets the Wizard. Each chapter ended with engaging activities to further the lessons and imagination of the reader. The writing was very illustrative and created a world that was easy to become immersed in. Great for kids and parents to listen to together!
Caryn has created a tremendous tool for parents, teachers and counselors to use to help alleviate an issue which is epidemic in elementary and middle schools.
This book was very insightful and the Wizard was a great mentor for Erik to shed his previous bullying behavior! The narrator was fantastic and brought the story to life.
