Summary
Over-busyness, judgment, resistance to change, fear of admitting failure, intense competition – is burnout inevitable? Do we need to suffer for the sake of pursuing our mission?

Leaders who are dedicated to mobilizing social change are often the first ones to experience burnout. Those committed to taking care of everyone and everything tend to neglect themselves and hit the wall, time and again.

Davida Ginter's book sheds light on the growing phenomenon of burnout and its root causes. Through personal and vulnerable stories of people from around the globe, this book paints a vivid picture of the real - yet often hidden - struggles of dedicated leaders.

The practical guidance within “Burning Out Won’t Get You There“ lies in the form of comprehensive advice, approaches, and hands-on tools that offer you clarity in cultivating personal and social wellbeing.

In the words of the author: You deserve to lead without burning out.

It was the title that attracted me to this book. I had "burned out" of a job and recently started a new job, so I know what it means to go through 18 years of working at the wrong place. I was burned out, and it most certainly didn't get me there. Great examples of what it means to be burned out and what to do about it. Great book.

I adore the loving and caring message conveyed in this book about avoiding burnout. I found this resource at a time when I really needed to hear these lessons. Since listening over several months to the audiobook, (I tend to have about 7 books going at the same time) I absorbed the information and was able to implement changes in my work and life balance and style. Last year at this time I was overwhelmed, tired, and ready to quit a job I had thrived in for 11 years. Today I have support in my work, I have learned to express my overwhelm in a meaningful way and I understand the importance of turning off and tuning into my personal life. I am more alive. I am more vital. I have more energy. I feel more in control and calm while remaining just as busy.

If we ever needed a book like this, it's now. Thank you for bringing light to such a crippling issue in our lives. Burnout is all around us, and most people learn how to live with it instead of getting rid of it. Davida does such a great job in breaking it all down for us to be able to get back to a life of enjoyment and peace. A great addition to my library.

I'm inspired to more intentionally create time for personal practices, and be conscious of the different matrial art moves I could use to healthily do the work I do. This book came at the right time for me and very interestingly I could associate with most of the root causes of burnout that were highlighted.
