When life hangs in the balance, what would you be willing to sacrifice? 
For young Khalvir of the Hunting Bear Clan, joining the tribe's revered brotherhood of Raknari warriors and protecting his family from all that would do them harm is an honour he has striven for since swearing loyalty to the clan chief, Eldrax. An honour for which he has already sacrificed much.
When drought pushes life to the brink, the Hunting Bear Clan needs as many new Raknari warriors as it can muster. 
But now that the final trial demanded of every Raknari warrior looms before him, Khalvir begins to question whether this sacrifice is one too great for him to make.
As Chief Eldrax intensifies his crazed vendetta against the Sky Gods and rival clans begin to invade Hunting Bear territory, Khalvir finds his loyalties tested to breaking point. 
Will he walk away, betraying his family and the blood oath he swore to Eldrax, or stay and join the ranks of the Raknari, even if it means destroying the last fragments of who he once was?
