The Captain Who Loved Her First_Game Changer: A Friends-to-Lovers Rugby Romance with Romantic Suspense

Finn Chalmers is professional rugby league’s Prince Charming: famous, wealthy, and surrounded by a reputation he never asked for. Behind the cameras, he is thoughtful, vulnerable, and hopelessly in love with Cara Holt, the best friend who has owned his heart for five years.

Cara treasures Finn, but she also treasures the independence she fought to build. She has never considered changing the boundaries of their friendship—until anonymous notes begin appearing at her workplace, on her car, and outside her home.

Finn’s guarded North Shore house offers the safest place to stay while police investigate. Living together is supposed to be temporary. Instead, shared routines, late-night honesty, a rescued dog, and an attraction neither can keep buried begin turning their familiar friendship into something dangerously irresistible.

With the team captaincy within reach, Finn must prove he is more than his public image. Cara must learn that accepting care does not mean surrendering control. And as the secret admirer’s attention grows more threatening, both of them will be forced to decide how much they are willing to risk for a love that has been waiting in plain sight.

Set in contemporary Aotearoa New Zealand, The Captain Who Loved Her First is a steamy, emotionally rich sports romance combining best-friends-to-lovers chemistry, protective-hero intensity, forced proximity, family healing, and a gripping thread of romantic suspense.
