I did enjoy the accent of the narrator. Yet I still could keep my focus on the story for the most part.

Have now listened to two of Mary Roberts Rinehart‘s books from the free collection and thoroughly enjoyed both. The narrators are to be commended for their creativity and volunteered generosity in bringing these audio gifts to your listeners.

Good read

I enjoyed the narration quite well. The narrator’s voice was well suited for the variety of characters. She also read at a perfect pace. As for the book, it held my attention from start to finish. I cannot say that about all books. The murder mystery maintained the same level of curiosity about Jennie Brice throughout the novel. There is also a large cast of men who may have been involved with the murder(?) and the coverup(?). This book was written prior to 1958 so I enjoyed earlier language and turn of phrases.

I had trouble following The Who and what at times.

Not my favorite

It was ok. Narrator was fairly good but I’m finding that with each story, apart from one of the Jeeves and Wooster ones, they all sound alike in cadence the way the story is told, which is pretty boring.

This book kept me awake! The narrator was so convincing that I believed her to be telling her own story. Lovely!

An unusual setting for a story but I did enjoy the book. Wasn’t too sure about readers accent at first but soon tuned into it.

I really liked this book. Fascinating to follow the plot through the point of view of the boardinghouse owner. Besides having to deal with lodgers and people going back and forth from her house taking her for granted, she has to deal with all of it in flood conditions. Aside from the story, It was interesting to learn of the floods in Pittsburgh/Allegheny. It sent me on a bit of research because my grandfather was born in Pittsburgh. It was also quite interesting to realise that there was a flood district. How curious that people regularly had to take measures to let the flood through every year. Meaning that they rearranged their lives, Travelled about in boats to their destinations as if it were common, and then had all the clearing, cleaning and even wall papering to do when the flood went down. Who built the houses where 3 major rivers regularly flooded together?!

The book was ok, I lost interest in it half way through, but I did finish it.

It was a fun listen and had good development! Definitely give it a listen you will enjoy :)
