I give myself more permission to turn negative experiences in my life into a positive power that helps me grow and see the good in all that happens to me. Seriously. But you need to want to be positive. Life is hard and I can see how some of us may not want to get over a passive negative

I love it! I have tried to get help multiple times in the past and have been unsuccessful in those attempts. These books are amazing if you are like me and don’t necessarily appeal to the idea of sitting and spilling your life story to someone across a desk. They are easy to read and easy to follow. Other CBT programs I have read about sounded almost childish in getting you to think about your thoughts and feelings and being mindful. But these help encourage you to get your life back into your own hands and take control. They are amazing!

The narration was horrible. I can’t follow what is being stated in the book.

The content may be worthwhile but the narrating is so flat and machine-like that it is impossible to follow.

I was really low when I ordered this book but I actual feel like I’m working through my issues. I know it’ll take a lot of time and practice, but I now have the tools I need and a plan in place. I completely recommend this book for anyone struggling with anything mood-related at all. PMS / depression / anger issues / overeating. The science is solid. It works grea

As for being effective, I am more than satisfied. I had little knowledge of CBT prior to reading this. It explained the basics and background thoroughly. It also provides a ton of exercises for further study. After reading this I found a great app that allows me to practice checking in on my thoughts and identify my moods at onset (as the book well explains). I now analyze my thoughts and thinking traps; I know which I fall prey to most often, and I can head off bad moods quickly just by identifying them and saying a counter rebuff to my disordered thinking

As a professional counselor I enjoy reading books which reinforce what I use in my practice. I felt this book is also a good tool to use with clients as it presents cognitive behavioral therapy is laymens terms.

Very readable and I started treating myself right away after the first few chapters. It is an excellent layman treatise on the subject. Finally I know what CBT is and I can use it on my patients and on myself.

I've read and practiced CBT , REBT techniques outlined by guys like Ellis and Burns for years. This book has been added to my resources on this subject. He covers the gamut of CBT and, most importantly, adds new material from research that has been conducted since the originators of this very effective therapy ( mindfulness for example).
