Summary
In this audiobook in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, vampire hunter Anita Blake learns what it's like to be at the new end of a centuries-old bloodline—and just how far she’ll let herself get pushed around.

Once a sworn enemy of all monsters, Anita is now the human consort of both Jean-Claude, the Master Vampire, and Micah, the leopard shapeshifter. Not quite as human as she once was, she is consumed by both their hungers—desires that must be sated time and time again. And when a centuries-old vampire targets Jean-Claude and his clan, Anita finds herself tested as never before—needing all the dark forces her passion can muster to save the ones she loves the most...
Reviews
What listeners say
The audiobook receives mixed feedback primarily due to narration issues. Many listeners appreciate the series' content but express strong dissatisfaction with the current narrator's performance. Criticisms focus on lack of emotional inflection, character differentiation, and overall engagement. Positive comments highlight the story's quality, particularly in mystery and thriller elements. The disparity between this narrator and previous ones is a recurring theme.

I liked this book for the most part. I did not care for the narrator very much. Cynthia gave off the feeling like she did not care for this book much or she was bored reading it. I found myself rewinding to understand some parts because the way she read-it felt or gave off no feel for the action or strong infliction of what was read. I love these books and felt a bit cheated by the reading.

narration was much lacking after listening to the first books. This woman was terrible and did no inflect dialects or emotion like Kimberly Alexis who narrated the first books.

Profile Avatar Denise W. Sep 2019

I love this series. However the narrator was terrible. There was not difference in character changes making it hard to follow. She took the "sexiness" out of the french vampire voices. Bring back Kimberly Alexis. She really made the books great.

Profile Avatar Rachelle Ryken Aug 2019

The narrator is so annoying and nasally. Bring back the other narrator from the first 10 books.
