This is a wonderful novel that really does a great job describing how Mississippi suffered through the 1950s. The culture of racism is brought to light both in the day-to-day interpersonal interactions as well as in law and order. The descriptions of legal pro boner work and the effort to save a condemned prisoner are really enlightening. A clear review of capital punishment is an added feature of this book. The reader is immediately drawn to supporting the protagonist while learning the degree of suffering endured with incarceration. This is a must read with each page revealing the insight into legal appeals.

Have yet to find a John Grisham book that hasn't kept me enthralled.

Great story about a sad and difficult subject. It's a long listen which I like, the pase of the story and the telling is very good as well. A true Grishem.

A long book that left you wanting more. Grisham is a master storyteller.
