Summary
Having completed the two cycles of legend to which she has devoted her career so far, Anne Rice gives us now her most ambitious and courageous book, a novel about the early years of CHRIST THE LORD, based on the Gospels and on the most respected New Testament scholarship.

The book’s power derives from the passion its author brings to the writing and the way in which she summons up the voice, the presence, the words of Jesus who tells the story.

This is a great listen! Obviously takes some liberties by pulling from various NT scholarship, but overall does a great job of helping the reader to at least think on the humanity of Christ and how he did grow up as other children do. Excellent for its ability to stir the imagination. I found myself thinking "what would it have been like the first time Jesus's parents told him who he was?" or "What was it like the first time Jesus saw the temple?" Also helps develop the cultural political climate at the time, for an interesting look at what Jesus might have seen as a boy.
