Duration: 6 hours 48 minutes

Summary:

Having completed the two cycles of legend to which she has devoted her career so far, Anne Rice gives us now her most ambitious and courageous book, a novel about the early years of CHRIST THE LORD, based on the Gospels and on the most respected New Testament scholarship.

The book’s power derives from the passion its author brings to the writing and the way in which she summons up the voice, the presence, the words of Jesus who tells the story.

Anne Rice did such a wonderful job of bringing the story of Jesus to life in a novel. She wrote the story in such a way that it was easy to believe we might actually be watching the events unfold in front of us. Even casual Bible readers will recognize events from the Bible, for example, Jesus attending the wedding and turning water into wine. The story was told in such a way to give us a plausible reason for why Jesus was at the wedding and why he might have wanted to turn the water into wine. We also saw how Jesus could live as fully as a man on Earth and yet also be God in one. A good read/listen!
