Unabridged Audiobook
I love the idea of this book- it has so much potential. I also loved how rich it was with Norwegian customs and culture. So many conversations, however, seemed dull and to go on with no point. And while I loved the idea of this story , the narrator was incredibly distracting. I think they must’ve chosen her because maybe she speaks Norwegian? But there aren’t enough Norwegian words in the book to warrant it. The main character was from London and it would have suited better to have a British narrator. This one says her “r’s” like “w’s” - series is sewies. It’s super distracting and irritating after a while.
I love the authors style. I am new to reading romance novels and I find so many of them to be so cliche (vampires) and also lacking in logic or completely fluffy and empty. But although this one follows a familiar trope, I just find the author's writing style to be so endearing. I love the way she incorporates the cat and all of the intriguing local culture found throughout the story. I also loved the narrator! Her voice is young and adorable and fits perfectly with the light-hearted, romantic theme. I will be seeking out more books by this author, and more that are read by this narrator. Kudos to both for getting me hooked on romance!
