Summary
Amelia usually loves Christmas. But this year, it’s her first one alone since losing her husband. Well... not quite alone.

Thanks to the infuriatingly handsome new village vet, who’s shut down the local kennels, Amelia finds herself playing reluctant host to a chaotic parade of pets: a parrot with attitude, two sulky tortoises, and a mysterious swarm of baby mice.

As her home turns into a festive menagerie, Amelia ends up spending far more time with Jules the vet than she ever intended. And despite the villagers being up in arms, she’s starting to enjoy his company far too much.

She keeps telling herself it’s just a festive fling - Jules won’t last the year in the village. But as Christmas approaches, Amelia’s about to learn that love isn’t just for the holidays…

A heartwarming, snow-dusted romance about healing and rediscovering the joy of Christmas through unexpected friendships.

Perfect for fans of cosy Christmas stories, unexpected second chances, and a few too many animals.

Minna Howard has had an exciting career in fashion journalism and now writes full time, she is the author of ´A Winter Affair´, ´A Mother's Secret´, and ´A Dad of His Own´.

A sweet story but a bit cliched at times and some parts of the story felt a bit protracted. An easy listen though and pleasant narration.

I listened to the book in anticipation of it getting better; however, it did not. The main character houses animals for Christmas but other than that this has nothing to do with Christmas. Story was very repetitive, predictable, and could be condensed to about a couple of hours easily. Even the "issues" that arise were boring and very evident. The narrator did a good job with what she was provided. Would have loved more in depth details about the kennel. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this book- VERY boring.

No. That full sentence would have shortened the book by half. The main character spends so much time worrying about social conventions that she let's herself be bowled over constantly. The failure to communicate trope is one thing, and present, but when the main character spends half her time feeling put upon but does nothing to avoid it... Perhaps Im too American for this story. The writing was mid level, the characters a bit shallow. The plot meandered a bit before going 0-100 in the last 10 mins of the book and the resolution was expected. All in all fine but frustrating. It did not ready me for the holiday season like I hoped, but simply existed over various holiday seasons as pale background plot points.

Sweet, heartwarming story, but repetitive and predictable. The story centres around the local kennel being shut down and the main character pet sitting over Christmas, but the entire cast of characters makes a HUGE deal about these events; the same conversations about these two events are had over and over again throughout the story, which got tiresome.
