Kael the Golden, the landless baron from the Frontier, has been admitted to the elite Imperial Military Academy as a cadet. Out of trillions of applicants, he was chosen to train where future fleet commanders and system rulers are born. But even a Hero's Cross doesn't spare him from problems with the Academy's true aristocrats. They don't think Kael deserves to breathe the same air as them, let alone train in the same academy.

Yet what seems like a nightmare pales in comparison to the fact that the Peewees have bigger fish to fry. A code-red mission that not even seasoned soldiers always come back from alive.
