Unabridged Audiobook
This is an extremely fair, well-researched and well-written book about one of the most complicated figures in the history of rock and roll. Both a victim, and a victimizer, Chuck Berry was a hard man to like, and a man who's personal life, and deep personal failings can sometimes overshadow his extraordinary achievements. This book is neither a hatchet job, nor a puff piece. It gives you Chuck Berry. Or at least as anyone has ever managed to get close to explaining Chuck Berry. Chuck Berry was not a simple man. And his life is not a simple one to tell. But, if it wasn't for Chuck Berry, we'd all be listening to polka now. If you are easily offended by descriptions of genuinely bad behavior, give it a pass. But you'll be missing a really well-done book about one of the most important figures of the 20th Century entertainment world.
