Theodore Roosevelt’s Citizenship in a Republic—often remembered for its famous “Man in the Arena” passage—is a stirring call to courage, responsibility, and active participation in public life. Delivered at the Sorbonne in Paris in 1910, Roosevelt challenges listeners to reject cynicism and comfort in favor of hard work, moral character, and meaningful action.
In this unforgettable speech, Roosevelt argues that true citizenship belongs not to the critic standing safely on the sidelines, but to the person willing to strive, fail, persevere, and contribute to society despite the risks. More than a century later, his words continue to inspire leaders, creators, athletes, and everyday people seeking purpose and resilience in the face of adversity.
This audio edition brings Roosevelt’s passionate delivery and enduring message vividly to life for modern listeners.
